Tiny bacon
I just found out the Paris Miniatures show is coming up. (**clutches at heart**) Have you seen what people can do with FIMO and an exacto blade? Like, make tiny miracles?
I admit, I've been making miniatures for years. It's a dirty secret that began like so many disgusting things do, when I was a child. We had a family dollhouse, a big turntable kind with working lights and hand printed wallpaper. My favorite room in the whole house was the kitchen. The tiny carrots, (bundled with tiny twine) miniature thanksgiving turkeys, (browned and glazed) and all the little baked goods. pies in bottle caps, cookies on little handpainted plates...anyhow, I began to make dollhouse food myself.
I've been focusing on both ends of the spectrum. High end appetizers and French pastries all the way down to my new favorite, hobo food. Scrambled eggs with hot sauce, baked beans on toast and mulligan stew. (Thise beans are really hard to make.) My pal in L.A asked me why I liked hobo food so much and my only answer was, I like food that makes me sad.
If I get a little braver, I'll post pics.
I also have to hand out due awards to this genius lady and her husband who made an actual tiny cheeseburger and then ate it. Gorgeous.
